Laurie Warnock, Candidate for State Representative
Rockingham District 15, Hampstead NH
Put my experience to work.
For Hampstead.
For New Hampshire.
Background
I've lived and worked in New Hampshire for over 30 years. My husband and I made our home here in Hampstead, raised our daughters in Hampstead schools and serve on the Hampstead Fire Department.
I'm currently serving my second term on the Hampstead Select Board. As liaison to the Water Resource Committee I've spent months negotiating with the Hampstead Area Water Company and the Public Utilities Commission to create a municipal fire protection program and limit the impact of rising water fees on ratepayers and the community at large. I'm working with the Hampstead Fire Department to secure $200,000 in congressionally identified spending from Senator Shaheen's office to offset a portion of the $1.7M fire station renovation. I've worked with the town department heads and committees to distribute American Rescue Plan Act funding for qualifying public safety, road and cybersecurity needs without impacting our property tax.
As a parent and a taxpayer, I support our public schools because all children deserve a free, quality, honest education.
As a woman, as the mother of daughters and as a public health professional, I support reproductive rights as healthcare.
As a gun owner and the daughter of a state trooper, I support evidence based, effective gun safety legislation
I hold a Bachelor's degree in European History and English Literature, and earned a Master's in Public Health from UNH in 2011. I've served on the boards of the Alexander Eastman Foundation, the Partnership for Drug Free NH, the YWCA NH and the Greater Derry Oral Health Collaborative, all of which serve our community directly.
As an educator for the regional poison center, I've traveled all over NH talking with teens, parents, and community groups about the dangers of opioids and the risks of e-cigarette use. As an educator in Emergency Services, I've taught hundreds of first responders about substance use disorder, pediatric trauma and caring for children with special needs. I work with a variety of state agencies and their community partners on suicide prevention, domestic and sexual violence advocacy, and mental health programs for older adults.
I believe in science. I believe in public education. I believe prevention is our best investment. As a first responder, I can help one person. As your representative, I can create policy that can help our entire community. I am committed to improving quality of life in our state and I'm ready to take my experience and passion to Concord.
